Compass are about to complete a major new infrastructure project in Bexhill, Sussex. The project consists of diverting two Overhead Line 33KV circuits underground using both open cut and HDD drilling techniques. This allows the existing overhead lines to be taken down, freeing up the land for development of housing.
This particular drill was in excess of 375m in length, and reached depths of over 14 meters. The drilling rig used is a 50 T DD 110 American Auger and the HDD was required to prevent damage to new roads and roundabouts that have been built as part of the development. The blue unit that can be seen in the picture below is a SiteTech recycling unit. This unit was manufactured in Holland and removes the mud and waste material from the drill fluids, allowing the fluids to be reused. Use of this recycling unit reinforces Compass commitment to reducing our carbon footprint and the environmental impact of our operations.
